This is called composite blade technology and it involves taking 2 different types of steel and sandwiching them together in a manner an amazing design. A process is then employed to reveal the Hamon line, which is where the harder steels reveal themselves over the softer spine. This technique makes the knife have all of the benefits of each steel and technique employed. Meaning, your blade has a little flexibility, but also excellent hardness and toughness at the edge.
