Classes
Olde Towne Cutlery is offering Knifemaking 101 and Sharpening 101 classes. These classes are perfect for a beginner or someone wanting to increase their knowledge in these areas!
The Knifemaking 101 class is a five-hour class teaches students how to peoperly “haft” a knife (put on a handle). The process involves selecting a pre-hardened blank from our large selection of blade blanks. Then the handle material is selected from our huge inventory of “scales”. The class teaches how to properly prepare the blank for epoxy, attaching a liner to the scale material, and then bonding with West-System Epoxy and pins. A one hour break is taken to allow the epoxy to cure. After lunch, the handle is shaped in three dimensions, with our instructor teaching the proper ergonomics of the handle shape. Lastly, the final sanding is done and a finish applied. The students will all go home with a beautiful finished knife!
The class is taught by Lee Tigner, owner of Olde Towne Cutlery.
